Getting started with the free starter
The free starter is a small, complete Remotion project. It includes the opening and closing scenes, a 12-second sequence, and both horizontal and vertical compositions.
Install and preview
You’ll need Node.js 22 or later and npm. Unzip the starter (or clone it from GitHub), open a terminal in its folder, and run:
npm install npm run studioDownload the free starter
Remotion Studio will open in your browser. Select LaunchHorizontal or LaunchVertical and press play.
Change the text and colors
Edit props.json to change the copy and palette. You can also copy settings from the live demo on the homepage.

}Every field is optional. The first three text fields after the label set the opening scene; the closing fields set the last six seconds. Keep headlines under 70 characters. A newline creates a deliberate line break, and the source reduces the type size for longer lines. Brand names are limited to 24 characters. The starter includes this example as examples/ledgerline-launch.json; run npm run render:example to render it.
Export the video
npm run render npm run render:vertical
Your MP4s are saved in the out/ folder. The starter is silent by design. Add your own properly licensed music or voiceover before publishing if you need audio.
Defaults: 1280 × 720 horizontal, 720 × 1280 vertical, 30 fps, 12 seconds. The source is yours to customize.
Assembled videos in the $99 collection
The Pro collection includes three composed sequences. Swap scenes and edit the timing directly in the source.
| Recipe | Sequence | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Launch announcement | Opening → Feature → Metric → CTA | 16 sec |
| Feature walkthrough | Typography → Feature → CTA | 12 sec |
| Customer story | Quote → Metric → CTA | 12 sec |
Four transitions
Fade, rise, wipe, and iris are frame-driven source components. Their timing is editable. They can be used independently or as scene reveals inside the recipes.
Compatibility and licenses
This release uses Remotion 4.0.533, React 19.2.6, and TypeScript. Keep Remotion packages on the same version. The starter uses system fonts and requires no external assets.
Our free source is MIT licensed. Remotion is a separate dependency with its own license requirements. Demo brand names, metrics, and quotations are fictional examples, not customer endorsements.
